OUR INHERITANCE

PSALM 16:6 – “The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.”

The Holy Spirit spoke this scripture to my heart yesterday morning. I knew the passage immediately but couldn’t recall exactly where it was located, so I used my trusty on-line Strong’s Concordance to find it. I also know that any time the Lord speaks a scripture to me, there is a deeper understanding below the surface that He wants me to dig out.

The lines = this term was used for measuring and dividing land; and hence the word came to denote a portion or inheritance measured out; a possession

are fallen = to make the lot fall, assign by lot, apportion by lot

unto me in pleasant = pleasant, delightful, sweet, lovely, agreeable

places; yea, I have a goodly = to be beautiful or pleasing to anyone

heritage = possession, property, inheritance, share, portion, inheritance, heritage

Concerning the Aaronic priesthood God said in Numbers 18:20 “…Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.”

In Ezekiel 44:28 concerning the Levitical priesthood He said, “…I AM their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I AM their possession.”

When Joshua ( who was an OT type of Jesus) and the priest Eleazar divided the lots (property. land inheritance) among the children of Israel, the Bible says, “…And they gave no part to the Levites in the land…as the Lord had commanded Moses…” (Joshua 4b & 5a)

So we see it is God’s intention for His priests to have no appointed possession, property, or lot, but He Himself is their portion! This signifies that the priesthood would be assigned the portion that God Himself ordained for each of them.

Can you see where this is going? Oh hallelujah!!!!

As believers in Jesus Christ, God says that we are “…a royal priesthood…”. We are His Kings and Priests!

That means that we no longer need to look for others (kings, presidents, government, or employers) to provide for us. As His kings and priests, He tells us He is our portion! He will provide all we need! He will appoint our portion, or position to us! He will place us where he wants us! He will equip us to do the ministry He assigns or appoints to us!

We only need to seek Him, for He is our portion!

So many children of God spend their lives seeking “a ministry”, or “provision”, when the only thing God asks them to do is seek Him!

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things  (your assignment, ministry, provision) shall be added to you!”

He is Immanuel ~ God with us! He is our portion!!!
